Electric Car Motor Housing

Electric Car Motor Housing

Motor housing is one of the important components of the motor, and its material selection directly affects the service life and performance of the motor.

Product Introduction

Description

Electric Car Motor Housing is a shell structure used to cover the stator and rotor components of the motor in the electric vehicle drive system. It is mainly made of aluminum alloy or steel. Its main function is to provide mechanical support, protect the internal components of the motor from the external environment, and assist in heat dissipation.

Features

Excellent thermal conductivity of the material
The motor housing is made of die-cast aluminum ADC12, with a thermal conductivity of 96 W/m·K, which is higher than general structural steel (about 50 W/m·K) and has good thermal conductivity. When the motor is running, the internal heat needs to be efficiently discharged to prevent insulation aging and efficiency loss. Combined with the shell size (257×250×223mm) and the closed structure, the high thermal conductivity material can quickly transfer heat to the external cooling system, effectively maintaining the motor operating temperature range at 60°C~80°C, which helps to improve the motor's operating stability and service life.

Excellent overall strength and protection of the shell
The motor housing is used to encapsulate and support the core components of the motor, and its mechanical properties directly affect the reliability of the whole machine. ADC12 die-cast aluminum has a tensile strength of about 310 MPa and good casting density. The 3.56kg shell has good vibration resistance and external impact resistance while maintaining structural integrity. With a 257mm long main bearing surface structure, it can resist the radial and axial loads generated during operation, while blocking external particles, water vapor, etc. from entering the motor cavity, improving the sealing protection capability.

Excellent structural precision
This product uses a VMC vertical machining center, integrating milling, drilling, boring, tapping, reaming and other processes. Combined with the BT40 toolholder system and 24-bit automatic tool change function, it can efficiently complete the finishing of complex structures. The 8000 rpm spindle speed and ±0.01mm repeatability ensure the dimensional consistency of the inner and outer surfaces of the shell. Considering the accuracy requirements of key areas such as motor bearing seats, cooling holes, and mounting surfaces, this process can ensure that the dimensional tolerance of the entire piece is controlled within ±0.05mm, reducing post-installation errors and improving system matching.

Lightweight structure
ADC12 aluminum alloy (density of about 2.7g/cm³) is used, and the material weight is reduced by about 60% compared with steel. The measured weight of this product is 3.56kg, which can reduce at least 2kg of load compared with traditional steel shells. For every 10% reduction in the weight of electric vehicles, the endurance can be increased by 6%~8%. The optimization of the shell structure and material selection have a positive effect on the energy efficiency of the entire vehicle.
